Description
Since it was opened in a strategic location for exports in 1967, the Gibraltar-San Roque refinery has become a highly integrated with the surrounding petrochemicals complex and other local industries, which it supplies with energy products. Its process units operate using technologies designed both to save energy and to ensure maximum safety for people and at the facilities. Recently implemented improvements and new energy recovery projects have increased the energy output at this refinery.
The Gibraltar-San Roque refinery distills up to 12 million tons of crude each year. It includes a major petrochemicals facility and lubricants plants, turning out a significantly wider range of products than the majority of refining facilities. Some of its plants are unique in Spain.
The refinery manufactures fuel of all kinds (propane, butane, gasoline, aviation fuel, fuel oil, etc.), as well as pure chemical products, basic products for the petrochemicals industry like benzene, paraxylene, orthoxylene and so on.
