Abengoa Bioenergy operates in the energy sector and carries out industrial production. It is dedicated to the development of biofuels for transport, bioethanol and biodiesel, among others, as well as bio-chemicals that utilize biomass (cereals, sugarcane, cellulosic biomass, oleaginous seeds) as a raw material. Biofuels are used in the production of a gasoline additive (ETBE) or for direct blending with gasoline or diesel. Abengoa Bioenergy is also developing new biofuels (biodiesel and aviation kerosene from sugars).
Abengoa Bioenergy San Roque S.A. is the company that owns the plant built on a site annexed to the Gibraltar Refinery, owned by Cepsa, in the industrial area of Palmones de San Roque (Cadiz, Spain). It is designed to operate with different types of vegetable oils- soy, rapeseed and palm- and thus does not depend on a single supply. The entire production of biodiesel is for the Cepsa refinery. The plant directly employs 55 highly qualified workers.
Project developed in the framework of Complementary Actions for Initiation. Driven by the Chamber of Commerce of Campo de Gibraltar and funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
